Yarn Along, Volume 2

Linking up with Ginny today...

I was attempting to make a scarf with a lace-like pattern that seemed somewhat easy, but after 10+ attempts, I just decided to do something much more basic for this beginner!  I wasn't sure about the color at first, but with a light gray coat, I think it will be nice.

The orange cowl from the last time did not turn out as expected.  It's not as wide as I wanted and both sides roll inwards.  I'm such an amateur!!

I am reading a couple of things at this point:  An Advent reflection book by Fr. Barron and Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis (both in a tablet version).

Looking forward to checking out everyone else's projects today :)

Yarn Along

I don't even know Ginny and her family but I have followed her blog for quite some time and I'm always inspired by their faith and simplicity.  I'm so happy for them all with the birth of their 7th child - he's just beautiful.

I am joining up with Ginny today for Yarn Along.  Linking up with other bloggers is still fairly new to me but I am enjoying it so far and it helps to add things to my blog when I just can't think of anything to post.

I just taught myself to knit this past summer and have only completed a few projects:  a couple of dishcloths, an attempted scarf that ended up very crooked!, some handwarmers that I actually use and now I'm working on a cowl.  It's my first time using circular needles and I'm not following any pattern.  I just decided to wing it!

I love the rusty color of the alpaca wool and the yellow in the background belongs to my 11 year old daughter.  She has just learned to knit and is so excited to start an actual project - probably a dishcloth :)

I'm trying to read The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton.  So far it is great, but it gets really difficult to find the time to read sometimes.  It just depends on how our school week is going and how many other things are scheduled.  I almost wish I owned a copy because there have been so many quotes I would like to be highlighting.  I just need to type  them out, I guess.

Anyway, Congratulations to Ginny and family!
